Sarri confident that the future of Juve does not depend on the Lyon game

Rome, August 7 (IANS): Juventus coach Maurizio Sarri doesn’t think his future with the Italian champions rests on the result of the Champions League round of 16 second leg against Olympique Lyonnais on Friday.

“I don’t think my future rests on this game,” Sarri said. “Thinking about it that way, you make club managers look like amateurs. I think I’m dealing with top managers. They will decide whether to continue or change. But it doesn’t depend on a single game. . “

There has been speculation about Sarri’s future in Italian media with names such as Mauricio Pochettino being offered as potential replacements.

Juventus won their ninth consecutive title but only managed to cross the finish line, ending the season with successive losses to Cagliari and Roma.

Juventus are currently looking to reverse a 1-0 deficit in the first leg that was played away before the break imposed by the coronavirus. The old lady is hoping her top scorer Cristiano Ronaldo will help her cross the finish line.

“Ronaldo is training the right way,” said Sarri. “On Wednesday he scored a great goal in training. He played a lot of games in a short period of time, he got a bit of rest and now he’s been training with intensity and strength.”
