Dealer loses lawsuit against lender over online accusation

By Silvia Martelli (July 22, 2022, 7:09 p.m. BST) – A London court has quashed the trial of a Scottish car dealer accusing a financial services firm and carmakers Renault and Nissan of destroying its business, ruling on Friday that the dealer didn’t have a solid case.

Simon Gleeson, sitting as Deputy High Court Judge, said the claim by Mackie Motors (Brechin) Ltd. must be struck out because it “discloses no cause of action”.

“The facts as alleged are entirely insufficient to allow the court to draw the conclusions of law that would be necessary for the plaintiff to succeed,” the judge said.
