But as times change, even digital banking is experiencing an upgrade – WhatsApp banking is an example of this evolution. In the current era, WhatsApp is also a viable option.

If you are a customer of any of these banks – SBI, HDFC, ICICI, Bank of Baroda (BoB) or Axis Bank, you can sign up for WhatsApp banking services.

State Bank of India (SBI) recently launched WhatsApp banking service for its customers. Its customers can request banking services like balance inquiry and mini statements on WhatsApp. SBI said via a Tweet that “Your bank is now on WhatsApp. Get to know your account balance and view mini statement on the go.” Customers can sign up for WhatsApp banking service by texting “Hi” to “90226 90226” from their registered mobile number.

“HDFC Bank Chat Banking is a WhatsApp chat service where all customers can simply chat with us to avail more than 90 services and transactions 24/7 seamlessly. It is an offer of End-to-end encrypted and secure service provided by HDFC Bank on WhatsApp. However, this offer will only be available on the mobile number registered with the bank. All you need to do is add the number 70700 22222 to your contacts and start a conversation by saying “Hi,” HDFC Bank said on its website.

ICICI Bank provides WhatsApp banking solutions 24/7/365. Customers can apply for instant loans, use InstaSave, make fixed deposit payments, pay bills, redeem services, and track the delivery status of their debit card, credit card, checkbook, and passbook using the WhatsApp banking service of ICICI Bank.

“Bank of Baroda is a pioneer in customer-centric initiatives that aim to provide the convenience of using banking services with safety and security. We are pleased to announce the launch of the “New Digital Delivery Channel – WhatsApp Banking”, the lender said on its website.

Axis Bank customers can also use WhatsApp Banking. The bank provides fixed deposit services through this initiative, as well as account-related services, including account balance, mini-statements, order checkbooks, open video KYC instant savings accounts and blocked debit card.
